    Wizkid at 35: A Journey from Ojuelegba to Global Fame

    Popular Nigerian music superstar, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, is celebrating his 35th birthday today, July 16.

    Born in 1990, Wizkid has become one of Africa’s biggest music exports, known globally for his unique sound and groundbreaking achievements in the music industry.

    Wizkid began his musical journey at a young age in Surulere, Lagos, and gained national attention in 2010 with his hit song Holla at Your Boy. Since then, he has risen to international fame with several chart-topping songs and collaborations with global artists like Drake, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber.

    His 2016 feature on Drake’s One Dance helped him break into the global music scene, and his 2020 album Made in Lagos solidified his place as one of Africa’s top musical icons. The album featured the hit single Essence with Tems, which became a global anthem.

    Wizkid, also known as “Big Wiz” by his fans, has won several major awards including a Grammy Award, MOBO Awards, BET Awards, and numerous others across Africa and the world.
