Senator Natasha Vows to Resume at the Senate on Tuesday Despite Suspension

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has vowed to return to the Senate next Tuesday, July 22, despite her ongoing suspension.

The lawmaker made the announcement following a legal decision that favoured her, stating that she has formally notified the Senate of her intention to resume her duties.

“I have pretty much two months more before the six months expire. However, I have written to the Senate again telling them that I’m resuming on the 22nd, which is on Tuesday, by the special grace of God,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

She clarified that the court’s decision was not just an order but a ruling that allows her to return to the Red Chamber. “They argue that it’s an order. It’s not an order; it is a decision,” she added.

Her suspension, which came earlier this year under Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s leadership, has limited her legislative work, including the ability to sponsor motions and bills.

Natasha described the suspension as a major setback to her work as a senator and insists it is time to reclaim her seat, citing the authority of the court. Her move may spark further debate in the Senate next week as legal and political tensions continue to grow around the case.
