Tragedy struck at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, when a 41-year-old woman, identified as Benita Lurk Ikuenobe, was found dead inside the church’s main auditorium on Friday morning.
The church’s Chief Security Officer, Esiere Ekikere, said he received a distress call around 7:20 a.m., alerting him to the presence of an unconscious woman lying on the floor of the auditorium.
Upon arrival, Ekikere found the woman motionless, with an empty bottle of a suspected toxic substance, believed to be Sniper, next to her. The incident was immediately reported to the police.
Officers from the Ogun State Police Command arrived at the scene shortly after, carried out initial investigations, and took photographs for documentation.
The body was later evacuated and deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue, where an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
While suicide is suspected, police have launched a full investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
The incident has caused shock among worshippers and raised questions about mental health support and security monitoring within religious premises.
