ADC Slams Tinubu Over Unfulfilled Electricity Promise

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to fulfil his campaign promise of providing Nigerians with 24-hour electricity.

In a statement released on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said that over 90 million Nigerians still do not have access to electricity, more than two years into Tinubu’s administration.

“President Tinubu promised Nigerians uninterrupted electricity within four years. That was his pledge,” the statement read. “But today, electricity tariffs have increased by 240%, yet the national grid has collapsed 12 times, leaving millions in darkness.”

According to the ADC, many Nigerians now rely on generators and charging kiosks due to poor power supply. The party added that in rural areas, most families remain completely off the grid with no access to electricity.

The ADC also criticised the government’s lack of a clear roadmap to improve the situation, saying, “We are past the halfway point of this administration, and there is still no major reform or urgency.”

The party reminded Tinubu of his famous campaign quote where he told Nigerians not to vote for him if he failed to fix electricity.

“We have not forgotten. Mr. President must explain why power supply has not improved and tell Nigerians how much longer they must wait,” the ADC concluded.
