Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has dismissed reports claiming she plans to retire from international football following Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Oshoala made the clarification after the Super Falcons defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final on Saturday night to clinch their 10th WAFCON title.
Speaking to journalists after the match, the 29-year-old striker said there is no truth to the retirement rumours.
“I don’t know where that came from, but agenda must agend,” she said. “I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on.”
Oshoala, a key figure in the Super Falcons squad, has played in multiple international tournaments and remains one of Africa’s most successful female footballers.
