2026 World Cup: FIFA Sets December 5 for Group Stage Draw in Las Vegas

    Share

FIFA has confirmed that the group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on December 5, 2025, in Las Vegas, United States.

This comes as the world football body finalizes preparations for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Las Vegas was selected as the venue after FIFA dropped possible options in Canada and Mexico. This will be the second time the U.S. is hosting the draw, after the 1994 edition was also held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 national teams, the largest number in the tournament’s history — an increase from the usual 32.

Pedro Cedillo, a top football executive from Mexico, confirmed the date while speaking to the press: “December 5, if I’m not mistaken, is precisely the day the draw takes place. I understand it will be in Las Vegas.”
