Troops in Katsina State have successfully stopped a bandit attack and recovered stolen cattle in Lambun Kyauta village, Malumfashi Local Government Area. The incident happened late Monday, July 29, when armed bandits raided the home of local herder Alhaji Rabi’u and stole his cattle.
The attack occurred around 10:30 p.m., but security forces quickly responded and engaged the bandits as they tried to escape. After a fierce gun battle, the criminals abandoned the stolen cattle and fled into the nearby bush.
Security operatives then carried out a follow-up operation and clashed with a group of hunters in the area. Another gunfire exchange took place, but no casualties were reported.
Authorities have increased security patrols in the region to prevent further attacks and are still hunting the bandits.
Banditry and cattle rustling remain major security challenges in northern Nigeria, especially in rural communities where herders and farmers often face violent raids. The military and police continue to strengthen their efforts to protect residents and their properties.
