A former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jacob Mark, has fired back at Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over comments suggesting Peter Obi would harm his political future by returning to the PDP.
Abdullahi, who recently appeared on Prime Time on Arise News, claimed that Peter Obi—former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate—remains a part of the ADC coalition and knows the risks of rejoining the PDP. He also said ADC’s rise had triggered movement within PDP ranks and warned that APC still controls much influence.
In a strongly worded response, Jacob Mark dismissed Abdullahi as a “political wanderer” who frequently switches parties in search of appointments and power.
“He was a minister who has moved from one party to another. He’s the kind of politician I don’t take seriously. They are only concerned about grabbing power,” Mark said.
He argued that Peter Obi is only a symbolic figure within the ADC coalition and that the party uses him for legitimacy.
“Remove Peter Obi from ADC, and who will talk about them? He’s not the owner of the coalition. They need him more than he needs them,” he stated.
Mark added that insiders know the ADC has no plans to hand its presidential ticket to Obi, and that the coalition is not driven by any strong ideology or clear vision for Nigeria.
He accused the ADC and its allies of being more interested in power than in meaningful change, stating that Obi can explore any option, but should be wary of being used.
Mark concluded by defending the PDP, saying those who left it should not dictate what happens within its ranks.
“People outside PDP don’t know what’s happening inside. They shouldn’t run commentary from the sidelines. Some of us are committed to deeper political discussions and building a better Nigeria, not chasing appointments,” he said.
