PDP Now a Parastatal of APC – Melaye Alleges

    Share

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been taken over by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Melaye made this claim during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, just a day after he officially resigned from the PDP.

According to him, the PDP no longer acts as a true opposition party. He accused the party of receiving instructions and schedules for key meetings from the Presidential Villa.

“PDP has been purchased by the APC. The PDP is now a parastatal of the APC,” Melaye said. “They take dates for NEC and NWC meetings from Aso Villa. Look at these PDP governors — are they behaving like opposition?”

Melaye also pointed out the influence of governors in the PDP, claiming they are not holding the APC government accountable, which he believes is a sign that the party has lost its independence.

His comments come amid growing concerns among some PDP members and supporters about the direction of the party, especially following the 2023 general elections.

Melaye’s resignation adds to the list of high-profile exits from the PDP, raising questions about internal unity and the party’s readiness to challenge the APC in future elections.
