    Share

There was panic at the Delta State Government House in Asaba over the weekend after a cow, meant for slaughter, attacked and seriously injured a staff member.

The incident occurred during preparations involving the slaughter of the cow, but things went out of control when the animal broke loose and went on a rampage. Multiple people were injured in the process.

One of the victims, a man in his 30s who tried to subdue the cow, suffered deep wounds on his thighs. He was first taken to the Government House Clinic for emergency treatment, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later moved to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently fighting for his life.

Another victim, identified simply as Peter, who works as a cook in the Government House, also sustained minor injuries.

According to an eyewitness, the first two butchers called to kill the cow were unable to control it and fled the scene. The severely injured man was reportedly the second person invited to take over the task when the cow turned violent.
