Popular Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters has opened up about his relationship with his father, veteran musician Shina Peters, saying he made every mistake his father made — but forgave him before they even talked.

Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, Clarence, 41, said his realization and forgiveness happened around 2014/2015, marking a turning point in his journey into adulthood.

“I made every single mistake my father made. I’m just lucky that time and tech saved me from it being as catastrophic as his own,” he said. “The moment I realised that, I forgave him instantly. That was when I became an adult.”

Clarence Peters is the son of Shina Peters and veteran actress Clarion Chukwura. In a previous interview, Clarence revealed that his mother once considered aborting him but changed her mind, believing he was the reincarnation of her late father.

He also shared that while he sometimes wanted to judge his father for how he treated his mother, he refrained from doing so, admitting he is not perfect in his own relationships.
