Liverpool’s latest signing, Florian Wirtz, has described Mohamed Salah as the best player in the Premier League last season, expressing excitement about playing alongside the Egyptian star.
Wirtz joined the Reds this summer from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in a deal reportedly worth £116 million, including add-ons. The 22-year-old German attacker arrives at Anfield with a solid record — 57 goals and 65 assists in nearly 200 games.
Speaking in a recent interview, Wirtz was asked which Liverpool player he looked forward to partnering with the most. “Of course, the whole team, but maybe Mo Salah. He was the best player last season, so yeah, I’m really looking forward to playing with him,” he said.
Salah was in top form last season, scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists in 52 appearances across competitions. His performance helped Liverpool lift their first Premier League title in five years.
Wirtz is expected to strengthen Liverpool’s attack under new management and form a deadly partnership with Salah as the Reds aim to continue their title-winning momentum.
