Former Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea, is set to return to Old Trafford this Saturday as his new club, Fiorentina, face the Red Devils in a pre-season friendly at the Snapdragon Cup.

The Spanish shot-stopper, who spent 12 years at Manchester United before leaving in 2023, is looking forward to the reunion — but not without a bit of friendly banter.

United captain Bruno Fernandes had earlier sent De Gea a warm message saying, “David, my friend, I can’t wait to see you at the Snapdragon Cup.” In response, De Gea playfully warned the midfielder not to expect a goal.

“Bruno, you know you cannot score against me,” De Gea said in a message shared via Manchester United’s official website. “And if you score, it’s because I let you score so people keep singing your name!”

The 33-year-old added that the game will be special for him and that he’s excited to reunite with his former teammates and fans. “I can’t wait to see you all at Old Trafford,” he said.
