Nigerian music star and mother of one, Tiwa Savage, has revealed she froze her eggs as a precaution in case she decides to have more children in the future.
Speaking in a recent interview with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the 42-year-old Afrobeats singer said she took the decision to secure her fertility and now encourages women in their 30s to consider doing the same.
“Having my first child in my 30s was beautiful because I was more financially and emotionally stable,” she said. “One advice I will give to women in their 30s is — whether you wanna have children or not, egg freeze.”
Savage added that she wished she had taken the step earlier but was glad to have done it now. She stressed that egg freezing gives women more options and flexibility when it comes to starting or expanding their families.
The singer, who shares a son with her ex-husband Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun, has become one of the leading voices in African pop music and is also increasingly speaking on issues around women’s health and empowerment.
