Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has criticised Lagos as a poor environment for young artists to grow, describing the city as “selfish” and damaging to upcoming talent.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Abuja-based rapper claimed that the competitive nature of Lagos can turn artists into “greedy, selfish, and self-centered beasts.”

“The worst place for a young artist to grow is Lagos. It’s the most selfish place to grow,” he wrote.

According to Odumodublvck, his rise in the Nigerian music industry was made easier because of his roots in Abuja, which he believes shaped him differently from his Lagos-based peers.

“That’s why it was easy to run through the industry as The Machine wey I be. I too real for una,” he added.
