President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Audu Ogbeh, describing the former minister and political leader as a true patriot and dedicated public servant.
Chief Ogbeh, who died peacefully on Saturday at the age of 78, was a former Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari and one-time National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also served as Minister of Communications during the Second Republic.
In a condolence message released by his spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Benue State, as well as Ogbeh’s family, friends, and political associates.
Tinubu praised Ogbeh for his deep intellect, commitment to national development, and his ability to offer practical solutions to complex national problems.
“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape,” the President said. “He was always ready with facts and figures to support his arguments. The nation will miss his voice and insight.”
President Tinubu also noted that Ogbeh was a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and began his political career in the 1970s as a legislator.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Ogbeh’s soul and asked God to comfort his family during this difficult time.
