The Ogun State Government has sealed off Asoludero Court and Conference Hotels, including its annex, all located in Sagamu and owned by former governor and current senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority carried out the operation on Monday, August 11, 2025. The action follows a quit notice issued just three days earlier, citing violations of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022.
The authorities claimed the properties were constructed or modified without the proper planning permits. The sealing notices were pasted on the gates and walls of the multi-billion-naira facilities, warning that failure to comply within three days could lead to demolition.
One of the notices stated: “Your development/property is hereby sealed off forthwith preparatory for its demolition.” Another warned that the government would not be liable for any loss during the sealing or demolition process.
In response, Senator Daniel accused the state government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, of political intimidation. He argued that his buildings were approved and built before the 2022 planning law came into effect and described the move as a violation of due process and an abuse of power.
Daniel, who governed Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, said the sealing was not just unjust but also aimed at silencing political opposition.
This development adds to the growing tension between the former governor and the current administration, raising questions about the selective application of state laws.
