Lere Olayinka, the Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has mocked former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent statement claiming he can defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, had said during a public discussion on X Space that he knows President Tinubu’s weaknesses and would be able to defeat him in the next presidential election if given a party platform, possibly the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Reacting via his verified X handle, Olayinka dismissed Amaechi’s claim, calling him a “jester” and pointing out his repeated political losses to Wike over the years.
“Hungry man Amaechi was a sitting governor in 2015, when Wike defeated him. He was a minister in 2019, and Wike defeated him again. In 2023, he was still defeated. Now he claims he can defeat Tinubu,” Olayinka posted.
He wrote: “Hungry man Amaechi was a sitting governor in 2015, when Wike defeated him.
“Hungry man Amaechi was a minister in 2019, when Wike defeated him.
“Hungry man Amaechi just left office as a minister in 2023, when Wike defeated him.
“The same hungry man Amaechi is boasting that he knows how to defeat Tinubu, a sitting president.
“I know Tinubu’s weaknesses, will defeat him if ADC gives me ticket – Amaechi.
He also took a swipe at Amaechi’s failed attempt to secure the APC presidential ticket in 2022, which Tinubu won by a wide margin.
“Me: Just the way he defeated Tinubu in the APC primary of 2022 nah. Alawada.com.”
Olayinka’s remarks reflect the long-standing political rivalry between Wike and Amaechi, both of whom are from Rivers State and have often clashed publicly.
The exchange comes as political realignments begin to shape the road to the 2027 general elections, with key figures positioning themselves for influence within and outside the ruling party.
