The Yobe State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Potiskum and arrested a suspect connected to the crime.
The toddler, who was taken on July 31, was safely recovered after police investigations led to the arrest of 24-year-old Abdullahi Aliyu from Kakuri, Kaduna State.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the child’s father, Mohammed Ishayaku, had received a ransom demand of ₦2 million from the kidnappers.
Abdulkarim stated that further investigation revealed the suspect had been linked to similar kidnapping cases in other states.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, praised the officers for their swift action and promised continued efforts to fight crime in the state.
He also called on parents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The police command assured residents of its full commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Yobe.
