Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, is set to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after reaching an agreement with the club.
Ajibade, 24, became a free agent in June following the expiration of her contract with Spanish side Atlético Madrid, where she spent several seasons in the Liga F.
The winger had attracted interest from clubs in the United States’ Major League Soccer (MLS), but PSG have now secured her signature, beating off competition.
Ajibade will become the second Nigerian player at PSG, joining fellow Super Falcons star Jennifer Echegini, who is already a key figure in the club’s midfield.
Her move comes just weeks after leading Nigeria’s Super Falcons to a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco. She was also named the tournament’s Best Player for her outstanding performances throughout the competition.
Ajibade’s arrival is expected to boost PSG’s attacking options as the French club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
