    Share

Panic has gripped Lataworo community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State as suspected bandits launched a second deadly attack within the same day, forcing villagers to flee their homes in fear.

This fresh attack, which occurred on Thursday, marks the second armed invasion in Edu LGA in less than 24 hours. Earlier in the day, suspected terrorists had stormed Lema community, killing one person and abducting two others.

While details are still emerging, it remains unclear how many people were kidnapped during the latest attack on Lataworo. However, local sources say the gunmen arrived in large numbers, causing chaos and panic among residents who abandoned their homes for safety.

Lataworo has previously suffered similar violence. On June 30, gunmen attacked three villages — Gada, Lataworo, and Kokodoko — in a coordinated strike, leaving several villagers and vigilantes injured.

The ongoing attacks have deepened fear across Kwara North and South, regions already battling a rise in kidnapping, terrorism, and ransom demands.
