Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has returned to training with his Atalanta teammates after a prolonged absence from the squad, signalling a possible comeback ahead of their Serie A clash against Torino this weekend.
Lookman was spotted in training on Thursday following a private meeting with Atalanta’s head coach, Ivan Juric. According to Italian outlet Gazzetta, the Nigerian winger joined the team at their training ground in Bergamo after their return from Paris, where they lost to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old has not played a single minute for Atalanta this season. His absence followed a reported fallout with the club’s management after he pushed for a move to Inter Milan during the summer transfer window. As a result, he was frozen out of the squad for several weeks.
Despite the club exile, Lookman remained active on international duty. He featured for Nigeria earlier this month in two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, showing he remains match-fit.
His return to training now opens the door for a possible selection in Atalanta’s squad to face Torino on Sunday. The Bergamo-based club will be hoping for a turnaround in form, having managed just one win so far in the 2025/2026 Serie A season.
Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout players last season, scoring crucial goals and contributing to the team’s European qualification campaign. His pace, dribbling, and eye for goal have made him a fan favourite since joining the Italian club from RB Leipzig.
Coach Juric has not yet confirmed if Lookman will start against Torino, but sources within the club suggest he may at least be included in the matchday squad.
