President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday visited Kaduna State on a one-day official trip. He arrived at the Kaduna International Airport around 1:00 pm and was warmly received by top political leaders and government officials.
Among those who welcomed him were the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, and his Borno State counterpart, Babagana Zulum. Also present were ministers, senators, and other senior government functionaries.
President Tinubu’s visit is mainly to attend the wedding ceremony of Nasirudeen Yari and Safiyya Idris. Nasirudeen is the son of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State and currently representing Zamfara West in the National Assembly.
The wedding, which brought together top politicians, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across the country, is seen as another high-profile event strengthening political alliances within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
As part of his visit to Kaduna, President Tinubu is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the widow of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The visit to the Buhari family residence in Kaduna is seen as a mark of respect and continued relationship between Tinubu and the Buhari family.
Former President Buhari, who served from 2015 to 2023, is known to have strong ties to Kaduna, where he has often resided since leaving office. His influence in Northern politics remains significant, and President Tinubu’s visit to his family may be viewed as a move to maintain unity within the APC and show solidarity with Buhari’s political base.
This visit comes at a time when the Tinubu administration is facing growing economic and political challenges, with Nigerians calling for more action to address inflation, insecurity, and rising cost of living. Political observers see such visits as part of ongoing efforts by the President to strengthen alliances and show presence across different regions of the country.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after the event.
So far, there has been no official statement from the presidency regarding other engagements during the trip.
