Popular Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy, has described marriage as one of the most powerful and sacred unions a person can enter into.
Cuppy shared her thoughts on Thursday through her official handle on X (formerly Twitter), where she reflected on how marriage is not just a partnership between two people, but a spiritual contract witnessed by God.
She wrote,
“Call me old school, but I see marriage as the most powerful partnership in life. Maybe even the most important contract you will ever sign with God Himself as the witness.”
The 31-year-old entertainer, who is the daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, explained that her views have been further strengthened by watching her younger sister, Temi Otedola, marry Afrobeats star Mr Eazi, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade.
Cuppy said Temi’s journey into marriage has shown her that the institution of marriage is not outdated, as some people believe, but can be deeply meaningful and purposeful when it involves the right person.
“Seeing my baby sister Temi become Mrs Ajibade reminds me that marriage is far from outdated. With the right person, it pulls you closer to purpose and builds love, family, and legacy,” she added.
DJ Cuppy’s heartfelt post came shortly after Temi Otedola released official wedding photos of her and Mr Eazi, who recently tied the knot after years of dating.
According to reports, the couple celebrated their love in a three-part wedding held in different countries, reflecting their cultural roots and global lifestyle.
The first ceremony took place on May 9, 2025, in Monaco, a symbolic date chosen to honour the birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother.
This was followed by a traditional Yoruba wedding held at the Otedola family home in Dubai in July, which brought together friends, family, and cultural leaders.
The wedding celebrations concluded in August with a white wedding in Iceland, where the couple exchanged vows in a private and intimate ceremony surrounded by a small group of loved ones.
Temi and Mr Eazi have been together since 2017 and have been praised for maintaining a low-key, respectful relationship despite being in the public eye. Their love story gained attention when it was featured in the short film “Legalize”, directed by filmmaker Temi Otedola, who is also an actress and creative entrepreneur.
Meanwhile, DJ Cuppy, who was previously engaged to British boxer Ryan Taylor, has remained open about her personal journey and hopes for love. In past interviews and social media posts, she has spoken about the importance of patience, self-worth, and finding the right person who aligns with one’s values.
Her latest comments about marriage have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians applauding her for upholding traditional values while still embracing a modern lifestyle.
Cuppy, known for her colourful personality, philanthropic work, and achievements in the entertainment industry, remains one of Nigeria’s most influential young women.
As her sister begins a new chapter in her marital journey, DJ Cuppy’s reflections offer a glimpse into how love, faith, and family continue to shape her worldview.
