Troops Kill Two in Kaduna Ambush

Nigerian troops have killed two terrorists and stopped a planned kidnapping during an early morning ambush in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out by troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSARAN YANMA, following credible intelligence about the movement of armed men suspected to be terrorists.

A military source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the troops received information that the attackers were moving from Gabachua high ground towards Insami and Kabode communities, where they were believed to be planning a kidnapping operation.

Acting swiftly, soldiers from Sub-Sector 5 set up an ambush along the Wake–Kabode–Abrum route, a known path used by terrorists and bandits operating in the area.

“The ambush took place around 7:00 a.m. and led to the killing of two terrorists,” the source confirmed.

During the operation, troops recovered the following items:

    Two AK-47 rifles

Two additional magazines loaded with ammunition

    One mobile phone

One motorcycle, which was later destroyed at the scene to prevent further use by criminal elements.

The successful ambush is being described by security observers as a significant step in ongoing efforts to tackle terrorism and banditry in the North-West region.

Kaduna State has been one of the states badly affected by the growing insecurity in northern Nigeria. Armed groups, including bandits and terrorists, frequently target rural communities for kidnappings, extortion, and attacks.

The Kachia axis, which borders the forest areas of neighbouring states, has often been used as a hideout and transit point for criminal groups. Security forces have recently increased their operations in the area under Operation FANSARAN YANMA, launched to clear terrorist hideouts and secure farming and rural communities.
