The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that its online recruitment examination for shortlisted candidates in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will hold on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
This was disclosed in a public notice released on Tuesday through the Service’s official website and social media platforms.
According to the notice, applicants have been divided into three batches—A, B, and C—and are expected to check their batch, examination time, and login details by visiting the official recruitment portal: https://updates.customs.gov.ng
Candidates are to log in using their National Identification Number (NIN).
“The Main Online Recruitment Examination for all shortlisted Inspectorate and Customs Assistant Cadre applicants has been scheduled for Thursday, 9th October 2025,” the statement read.
The NCS emphasized that strict compliance with the assigned batch and time is compulsory. Candidates who fail to log in at their scheduled time may be disqualified from the recruitment process.
“Candidates are strongly advised against the use of calculators, mobile phones, or any other devices during the examination,” the Service warned.
Applicants were further cautioned to avoid multiple log-ins or switching browser windows during the online test. Such actions, according to the Customs Service, could disrupt the exam session and may lead to disqualification or automatic logout.
The NCS also clarified that this phase of the recruitment is strictly for Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadre applicants only, and does not include candidates who applied under the Superintendent cadre.
“Only Inspectorate and Customs Assistant Cadre applicants are to take part in this stage of the examination. Applicants of the Superintendent Cadre are not to participate at this stage,” the statement added.
The online examination is part of the ongoing recruitment process aimed at filling vacancies in the paramilitary agency. The recruitment began earlier in the year, attracting thousands of applications across the country.
As one of Nigeria’s key revenue-generating agencies, the Customs Service plays a major role in border control, import and export regulation, and anti-smuggling efforts. The Service’s recruitment is always closely monitored due to the large number of applicants and the importance of transparency in the process.
The NCS has repeatedly warned applicants against fraudsters, urging them to rely only on official communication channels for authentic updates. All stages of the recruitment, including the online test, are free of charge, and no candidate is required to pay money to any individual or group.
Candidates are advised to prepare well and follow all provided instructions carefully to avoid any issues on the examination day.
Further updates on subsequent recruitment stages, including physical screening and final selection, will be communicated via the same portal and official platforms of the Nigeria Customs Service.
