Nollywood actress, Sarah Martins, has accused uniformed officers of assaulting her while she was preparing free meals for homeless and vulnerable people in Lagos State.
The actress, known for her roles in various Nigerian films, took to her Instagram page to share a troubling experience that occurred during one of her regular charity outreaches. According to her, the incident happened when she was cooking food to distribute to the needy, as part of her personal efforts to support the less privileged.
Sarah claimed that officials believed to be from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force arrived at the scene, harassed her, and forcefully disrupted the outreach. She alleged that the officers seized her cooking gas, food items, and utensils, despite her explaining that the activity was purely charitable.
“My heart aches,” she wrote in the emotional post.
“Today, as I was cooking free food for the vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Lagos, like I always do, some uniformed men came there, harassed me, bullied me, and took away the food I was cooking, my cooking gas, and everything I was using.”
The actress also shared a video showing her injured hand, saying she was left physically hurt and emotionally traumatised.
“My only offence was serving love on a plate through my healthy meals. I am not a chef, and I do not cook for a living,” she added.
Sarah clarified that she is not running a business or selling food, but simply giving back to society out of compassion. She said the outreach is something she often does from her own pocket, without seeking donations or attention.
The alleged assault has since sparked reactions online, with many fans and social media users expressing support for the actress and calling for accountability from the officers involved.
Sarah is now calling on the Lagos State Government and relevant authorities to investigate the incident, punish those responsible, and put an end to harassment of individuals engaging in community service.
“What kind of society punishes people for showing kindness?” she asked.
“This should never happen to anyone trying to help others.”
As of press time, officials from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force or the Lagos State Government have not issued a public statement in response to the allegations.
Sarah Martins has promised not to give up on her outreach efforts, saying she will continue to support the homeless despite the challenges she now faces.
