Former Big Brother Naija star, Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has made history by earning two Guinness World Records for performing the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours and in 24 hours.
The 29-year-old reality TV star, influencer, and entrepreneur was officially confirmed by Guinness World Records (GWR) on Wednesday, marking a major milestone not only in her career but also for Nigeria’s growing beauty industry.
Guinness World Records announced the achievement on its official page on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Congratulations to @Symply_Tacha who set TWO new @GWR titles for the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours and 24 hours.”
Tacha achieved this historic feat during her Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event held from October 10 to 12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos.
During the event, Tacha and her team worked around the clock to set the new records. According to Guinness World Records, she successfully completed 82 makeovers in eight hours and an incredible 144 makeovers in 24 hours.
The challenge involved professional cosmetic applications — from foundation to finishing touches — on 150 volunteer models, each makeover meeting GWR’s strict standards.
Tacha’s achievement has since sparked celebration across Nigeria’s entertainment and beauty scenes, as she becomes one of the few Nigerian women to hold multiple Guinness World Records.
Reacting to the news, Tacha shared an emotional post on Instagram, thanking her fans, her dedicated team, and her late mother for inspiring her perseverance.
“The achievement was powered by grace, persistence, and the unwavering support of my TEAM and fans who refused to let me quit,” she wrote.
“You smiled, talked, cried, and hyped me till the very last second. From the depth of my heart, thank you. We didn’t just work! We warred.”
In another heartfelt note, she described the experience as one filled with challenges and determination.
“The world sees the headline, but God and I know the trenches: sleepless nights, generator hum, prayers at 3 AM, swollen feet, shaky hands and grace that does not lie.”
Tacha concluded her message with a statement that has since gone viral among her fans:
“My first name is Anita; it means gracious. And grace is loud on my life.”
In a statement shared with Guinness World Records, Tacha said her decision to pursue the challenge came from a lifelong passion for beauty and a desire to inspire African women to break barriers.
“The idea of daring to be different drove me,” she said. “Makeup has always been part of my life. From childhood, I was fascinated by colours and beauty.”
She added, “This record was born from that same spirit — resilience and the courage to stand out. I wanted to show that Nigerian women can achieve anything they put their minds to, that creativity is powerful, and that African women deserve global recognition.”
Tacha said the long hours of work and the emotional and physical toll were worth it because the project represented more than just a record — it was a statement about determination, grace, and national pride.
Since the announcement, Tacha’s social media pages have been flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, fellow celebrities, and supporters who praised her dedication and achievement.
Nigerians across social media have celebrated her as a symbol of hard work and perseverance, with many using hashtags such as #TachaWorldRecord and #GraceIsLoud to celebrate the news.
Former Big Brother Naija housemates and beauty industry professionals also joined in the celebration, describing her success as an inspiration for young Nigerian women.
A makeup artist from Lagos, Faith Ogundele, said Tacha’s recognition proves that Nigeria’s creative industry deserves more global attention. “She has shown that makeup is not just beauty — it’s art, skill, and endurance,” she said.
Tacha now joins the growing list of Nigerians who have made it into the Guinness World Records. In recent years, Nigerians have dominated the headlines for their creativity, resilience, and record-breaking feats.
In 2023, Hilda Baci, a chef from Lagos, became a global sensation after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, putting Nigeria in the spotlight. Her success inspired a wave of Nigerians to attempt new records in different fields, from music to art to sports.
Experts say this trend reflects a new generation of Nigerians eager to challenge global standards and show the world the country’s creativity and talent.
Tacha’s achievement adds to this growing list and is particularly significant for the beauty and fashion industry, which has become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing creative sectors.
Anita Natacha Akide first gained public attention as a contestant on Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 4, themed Pepper Dem, in 2019. Despite her controversial exit from the show, she quickly became one of its most influential alumni, building a brand around confidence, ambition, and empowerment.
Over the years, Tacha has grown into a major influencer and entrepreneur, with business interests in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. Her brand, Tacha Beauty, has attracted a strong following, with many of her fans — known as “Titans” — supporting her every venture.
Through her online presence, she has also used her platform to advocate for women’s empowerment and self-belief, often reminding her followers that “no dream is too big to chase.”
Her Guinness World Record success, according to industry observers, is the culmination of years of consistency and hard work.
The Tacha Beauty Festival, where the record-breaking event took place, was more than just a competition — it was a celebration of Nigerian culture, art, and creativity.
Held at the historic John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos, the festival featured exhibitions, makeup workshops, product showcases, and musical performances. It also provided a platform for young makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts to connect, learn, and grow.
Speaking after the confirmation, Tacha said, “The Tacha Beauty Festival was my way of giving back — of showing that our stories, our art, and our creativity deserve the world’s attention. I am proud that we did this right here in Lagos.”
Beyond breaking records, Tacha’s achievement has been celebrated as a symbol of what Nigerian women can accomplish with determination and courage.
“To everyone who called, pulled up, reposted, believed before they saw it, thank you. The same God who did this for me knows the secret prayers in your heart, and He will answer you double. Do not stop. If you don’t have haters, pray for haters — because they’ll push you into purpose.”
As messages of congratulations continue to pour in, Tacha’s name now stands proudly among Nigeria’s record-holders, a reminder that dreams, when pursued with faith and hard work, can turn into global achievements.
Her story is one of persistence, creativity, and confidence — and as she said, “Grace is loud.”
