The controversy surrounding Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and Lagos-based pastor Chris Okafor has taken a new turn following the intervention of social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The online personality has publicly warned that if Doris Ogala is not released by Tuesday, he will release what he described as evidence linked to her dispute with the pastor on social media.
VDM made the statement in a video shared online, which has since gone viral and sparked strong reactions across different platforms. His comments come amid reports that Doris Ogala was arrested over the weekend following a heated public dispute with Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Grace Nation Bible Ministry.
According to VDM, he had spoken with Doris Ogala on the phone shortly before her reported arrest. He claimed he had a strong feeling that something was about to go wrong and decided to reach out to her as a warning.
VDM said during the phone conversation, he advised the actress to be careful and to be fully open if she was going to speak publicly about sensitive issues. He explained that partial confessions or incomplete stories could create serious problems.
“There are some things that you should not do, and when you do those things and come out to confess, you need to confess fully, 100 percent fully,” VDM said in the video.
He added that his concern was driven by what he described as a “premonition” that danger was ahead for the actress. According to him, Doris Ogala defended herself during the call and insisted she had evidence to support her claims against Pastor Chris Okafor.
In a follow-up video, VDM claimed that the actress later sent him documents and other materials related to her allegations. He said these materials were sent before her arrest and are now in his possession.
VDM also raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the actress’s arrest. He alleged that those responsible for arresting her might be trying to destroy evidence stored on her mobile phone. Though he did not provide proof of this claim, the allegation has further fueled public suspicion and debate online.
“I know those who arrested her want to destroy the evidence on her phone,” VDM said. He then issued a direct warning to Pastor Chris Okafor and another individual he identified as Jeremiah.
He said, “If Doris Ogala does not return home by Tuesday, every piece of evidence she sent me will be released on social media.”
The actress was reportedly arrested on Saturday evening, December 20, 2024, during a live broadcast on social media. At the time, she was being interviewed by an online personality when security agents allegedly arrived at her residence.
In the livestream, which was cut short, the interviewer was heard asking, “Are the police in your house?” Doris Ogala reportedly replied, “Yes, the police are in my house.” Moments later, the video ended, leaving viewers shocked and confused.
The police have not yet released an official statement explaining the reason for the arrest or whether any formal charges have been filed. This lack of information has led to widespread speculation and concern, especially among fans of the actress and followers of the case.
The arrest came shortly after Doris Ogala publicly accused Pastor Chris Okafor of failing to fulfill an alleged promise to marry her after what she described as an eight-year intimate relationship. She made the claim following the circulation of a viral video showing the pastor proposing to another woman.
In several social media posts, Doris Ogala expressed anger and disappointment, saying she felt betrayed. She alleged that she stood by the pastor for years with the belief that marriage was planned, only to be surprised by his public proposal to someone else.
Pastor Chris Okafor, who leads Grace Nation Bible Ministry, is a well-known religious figure with a large following in Lagos and beyond. In earlier reactions, he denied the actress’s claims and said he never intended to marry her. He also described the allegations as false and damaging.
The public exchange between the two quickly became a major topic on Nigerian social media, with users divided in their opinions. Some expressed sympathy for the actress, while others criticized the decision to take personal matters to the public space.
With VDM’s involvement, the matter has now taken on a new dimension. Known for calling out public figures and institutions, VeryDarkMan has a strong following online and often plays a major role in shaping public conversations around controversies.
His warning has raised questions about the use of social media pressure in legal and personal disputes. While some Nigerians support his move, others have urged caution, noting that investigations and legal processes should be allowed to run their course without threats or public pressure.
As of now, neither the police nor Pastor Chris Okafor has responded to VDM’s latest statement. Doris Ogala’s current status remains unclear, and there has been no official confirmation on whether she has been granted bail or is still in custody.
Online reactions continue to pour in, with many Nigerians closely watching developments. The case highlights the growing influence of social media in shaping public opinion and the challenges that arise when private disputes between public figures play out online.
