Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus, has spoken openly about a painful relationship experience that still affects him. The comedian revealed that he once gifted a woman a luxury car out of love, only for the relationship to end later, leaving him with deep regret.

Sabinus shared his experience during a recent livestream conversation with TikToker, Sandra Benede. The discussion focused on relationships, heartbreak, and the emotional struggles people go through after breakups. During the session, the comedian described love as “cruel” and said people often underestimate how painful heartbreak can be.

According to Sabinus, his experience made him strongly relate to the current situation of popular TikTok star, Peller, who has been in the news following his breakup with his girlfriend, Jarvis. Peller has faced heavy criticism online after reacting emotionally to the breakup and reportedly being involved in a serious car accident shortly after.

Sabinus said he understands what Peller is going through because he has been in a similar position before.

The comedian explained that during one of his past relationships, he went as far as buying a Range Rover for his girlfriend as a sign of love and commitment. However, despite the expensive gift, the relationship eventually ended.

“I once gifted a girl a Range Rover because of love. She later left me. I regretted it,” he said.

Sabinus used the opportunity to urge Nigerians not to be too harsh on Peller or anyone dealing with heartbreak. He stressed that emotional pain can push people into actions they would not normally take.

“So nobody should blame Peller,” Sabinus added.

Peller’s breakup with Jarvis has attracted widespread attention on social media, especially due to his emotional reactions. Videos of him crying, ranting, and expressing anger circulated widely online, drawing mixed reactions. While some people mocked him, others expressed sympathy and urged the public to show understanding.

The situation became more serious when reports emerged that Peller was involved in a car accident shortly after the breakup. Though details of the accident remain unclear, the incident raised concerns about how emotional distress can affect judgment and mental health.

Sabinus believes such reactions should not be taken lightly. According to him, heartbreak can affect anyone, regardless of fame or success.

In recent years, Nigerian celebrities and influencers have become more open about their personal struggles, especially around relationships and marriage. Sabinus’ comments add to growing conversations about emotional health, expectations in relationships, and the pressure that comes with public life.

Sabinus rose to fame through his short comedy skits, which gained massive attention on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms. His funny expressions, street-style humor, and relatable content quickly made him one of Nigeria’s most followed comedians online. Over time, his success expanded into brand endorsements, shows, and awards.

Despite his success, Sabinus’ personal life has not been without challenges. In December 2025, the comedian confirmed that his marriage to his wife, Ciana Chapman, had ended. He made the revelation during a TikTok livestream, surprising many fans who were not aware of problems in the marriage.

Sabinus and Ciana Chapman got married in a private ceremony in 2023. Their union produced a child, making the breakup even more sensitive. According to Sabinus, the marriage lasted just over a year before it ended.

Although he did not go into details about the reasons for the separation, the comedian said the decision was mutual and that both parties were moving on. The announcement sparked widespread discussion online, with fans expressing shock, sympathy, and support.

The end of his marriage may have contributed to Sabinus’ openness about relationship pain and regret. His recent comments suggest that despite fame and financial success, emotional struggles remain real and deeply personal.

In Nigeria’s entertainment industry, stories of celebrities spending heavily on partners are common. Luxury cars, houses, and expensive vacations are often seen as proof of love. However, many of these relationships still end in heartbreak, public drama, or legal battles.

Sabinus’ regret over gifting a car highlights the risks of making major financial decisions based purely on emotions. Some social media users have praised him for speaking honestly, saying his story serves as a lesson for young people and fans.

Others, however, believe love should not be measured by what is given or received. They argue that people should take responsibility for their choices rather than blaming love when things go wrong.

The comedian’s message about not judging people going through heartbreak has also resonated with many Nigerians. Mental health advocates have repeatedly warned that mocking or attacking emotionally distressed individuals can worsen their condition.

In recent times, there has been growing awareness around mental health issues in Nigeria, especially among young people. Breakups, social pressure, and online criticism have been linked to anxiety, depression, and risky behavior.

Sabinus’ call for empathy adds to these discussions, reminding the public that emotional pain is real and should not be dismissed.

As social media continues to blur the line between private life and public entertainment, celebrities like Sabinus often find their personal experiences becoming lessons for millions of followers.

For Sabinus, sharing his regret appears to be both a warning and a moment of reflection. While he did not name the woman involved, his story has already sparked conversations about love, money, and emotional responsibility.
