The father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has renewed his insistence that his son will not be buried until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the paternity of the singer’s child.
Aloba made this known in a video shared on his TikTok account, where he expressed frustration over what he described as attempts by powerful individuals to delay or influence the process.
The demand follows an earlier ruling by a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, which ordered a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to determine whether Liam Aloba is the biological son of the late singer.
The order was given by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga after considering an application filed by the deceased’s father.
Speaking in the video, Aloba claimed that despite the court’s directive, efforts to carry out the test have faced setbacks. He alleged that certain individuals are working behind the scenes to frustrate the process.
“Some powerful people have connived to use Mohbad’s death to frustrate me,” he said. “After the toxicology was done, nothing came out of it, and now they have gone to pick a questionable DNA centre.”
He also revealed that he is considering moving the case out of Lagos State to ensure fairness and transparency.
“If possible, we will seek to transfer the case from Lagos to Ekiti State. I will consult my lawyer on that,” he added.
Aloba stressed that the DNA test remains a key condition before he can proceed with his son’s burial. According to him, the outcome of the test is crucial to resolving ongoing disputes surrounding the late singer’s family and estate.
“I am calling on the Lagos State Government to allow me to bury my son, but without DNA, we cannot proceed. It is part of the evidence,” he said.
The issue of paternity has become a major point of controversy since Mohbad’s death in September 2023. The singer, who rose to fame in Nigeria’s music industry before his untimely death, left behind a young son, Liam, who was born in April 2023.
