Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Flora Egbedi, has accused some of her fellow housemates of giving false ages, claiming that many of them are older than they presented themselves to be.

Flora made the allegation during a conversation with other housemates on Tuesday night, saying she believed that several contestants had reduced their ages before entering the reality television show.

The 30-year-old housemate, however, refused to mention the names of those she believed had lied about their ages.

According to her, Trams was the only housemate whose stated age she believed.

Flora also said she regretted not reducing her own age before joining the show, suggesting that she might have appeared younger if she had done so.

“If I had known, I would have lied that I am 20 years old. I see a lot of people who are way older than the ages they claimed to be in this house. Trams is the only housemate I believe his age,” she said.

Her comment has since generated reactions among viewers of the reality show, with some demanding that the issue be addressed during the next live eviction programme.

Some reviewers have called on the show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, to question Flora about the allegation and ask her to provide more details.

They want the housemate to explain how she arrived at her conclusion and, if possible, identify the contestants whose ages she believes were falsified.

The demand has added another layer of interest to the ongoing season, as viewers continue to closely follow the relationships, arguments and revelations emerging from the Big Brother house.

Age controversy is not new to Big Brother Naija.

Over the years, allegations that some housemates lied about their ages have repeatedly surfaced among viewers and, in some cases, between the contestants themselves.

Because the show attracts young Nigerians and has become one of the country’s biggest entertainment platforms, the age of contestants often becomes a subject of public discussion.

Housemates are introduced to viewers with basic personal details, including their names, occupations and ages. Once the show begins, however, viewers often compare information provided by contestants with comments made during conversations in the house.

Any apparent contradiction can quickly become a subject of discussion on social media.

The issue has also been linked to the strong competition surrounding participation in the show.

Big Brother Naija attracts thousands of applications whenever auditions are opened, with only a small number of contestants eventually selected for the main show.

For many young Nigerians, appearing on the programme offers an opportunity to gain national visibility, build a social media following and pursue careers in entertainment, business and other fields.

As a result, contestants are under intense public attention throughout the season.

Flora’s allegation has therefore attracted interest because she did not simply claim that one housemate had lied about an age. Instead, she suggested that several contestants were older than their publicly stated ages.

Her decision not to name the housemates has left viewers speculating about who she may have been referring to.

Some viewers have praised her for speaking openly about what she believes, while others have questioned why she would make such a serious allegation without identifying those involved.

There have also been calls for the programme organisers to clarify whether the ages provided by housemates are verified before contestants are selected.

For the organisers, the accuracy of information supplied by contestants is important because the show presents housemates to the public based on the personal details they provide during the selection process.

However, there has been no indication from the organisers that the ages of the current contestants have been found to be inaccurate.

Flora’s comments therefore remain an allegation and have not been independently established.

The controversy is also likely to add to the tension among housemates as the competition progresses.

Life inside the Big Brother house often involves intense interactions, with contestants spending weeks together under constant observation.

Friendships, disagreements, romantic relationships and personal revelations frequently become major talking points among viewers.

Arguments over personal information can also create divisions between contestants, particularly when one housemate makes claims about another.

The response to Flora’s statement may therefore become part of the ongoing drama of the season.

Viewers are now waiting to see whether she will provide further information or whether the matter will remain an unverified claim.

The next live eviction show is expected to attract particular attention if the issue is raised by Ebuka.

As the host, Ebuka has frequently questioned housemates about controversial developments inside the house and encouraged them to explain comments or actions that have generated strong reactions from viewers.

Some viewers believe he should use the opportunity to ask Flora directly about her claim.

They want her to explain why she believes the ages given by some housemates are not genuine and whether she has evidence to support her position.

Others have argued that contestants should be allowed to keep personal information private unless they choose to disclose it themselves.

The debate reflects the level of interest viewers have in the personal lives of Big Brother Naija contestants.

The reality show has remained a major part of Nigeria’s entertainment industry since its return to Nigerian television in 2017.

It has produced several popular entertainers, influencers and business personalities, while former housemates have used the platform to build successful careers in music, acting, fashion and content creation.

For the current contestants, public perception is an important part of the competition, with viewers voting to determine who remains in the house.

Any controversy that attracts public attention can therefore affect how contestants are perceived outside the house.

Flora’s age allegation has already become one of the talking points of the current season.

Whether it leads to further revelations remains to be seen.

For now, the 30-year-old housemate has maintained that many of her fellow contestants are older than they claim, while identifying Trams as the only housemate whose stated age she believes.

Unless Flora provides further details or the programme’s organisers comment on the matter, the allegation remains unverified.

The attention will now shift to the next live show, where viewers hope the host will question Flora and possibly get more information about the claim that some BBNaija Season 11 housemates falsified their ages.
