A 19-year-old native doctor, Timothy Dauda, has been arrested by the police in Edo State after an attempt to test an “anti-bullet” charm resulted in the death of his client, Alex Ezekiel.

According to the Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, on Modnay, the tragic event occurred on August 20 in Onumu Community, near Igara in Akoko Edo Local Government Area.

Dauda, who reportedly claimed to specialise in preparing charms that could protect against gunshots and machete cuts, is now in custody following the incident.

Yamu confirmed that Dauda was arrested by officers from the Igarra Divisional Police Station in Akoko-Edo.

The arrest followed a shocking turn of events where Dauda allegedly tested the efficacy of his charm on Ezekiel by shooting him with a gun.

A source revealed that Ezekiel had visited Dauda’s home with the hope of obtaining a charm that would protect him from gunfire.

Dauda decided to test the charm’s effectiveness by firing a gun at Ezekiel.

The bullet penetrated Ezekiel’s body and caused severe injuries. Ezekiel was rushed to a hospital in Igarra, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

Traditional charms and amulets have been used in various cultures, including in Nigeria, for centuries.

Practitioners often claim that these charms can offer protection, cure ailments, or bring good fortune. However, there is little scientific evidence to support these claims.

Yamu indicated that Dauda would face prosecution once the police investigation is concluded.
