A drone was launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home in Caesarea on Saturday.
According to Netanyahu’s spokesman, the prime minister was not present at the time of the attack.
The Israeli military confirmed that the drone was launched from Lebanon.
It reportedly struck a building in Caesarea, an area in Tel Aviv.
However, details about the exact building remain unclear.
In addition to this drone, two other drones crossed into Israeli airspace but were intercepted.
Sirens rang out in Tel Aviv as the military took action.
Witnesses reported hearing explosions in Caesarea, which is located on Israel’s northern coast.
Caesarea is a significant area, home to many politicians and business leaders.
It also houses important strategic assets, including military bases and oil refineries.
Eyewitnesses shared videos online showing the aftermath of the drone attack.
While the damage was confirmed, it is not clear if any significant structures were harmed.
The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the attack although it is believed to have launched the drone.
Hezbollah has been involved in ongoing conflicts with Israel since last October.
The Israeli military is known to have imposed strict media restrictions on this incident.
Reports indicate that no warning sirens were activated in Caesarea itself.
However, alarms did go off in neighboring regions, including Haifa.
Military sources say that the drone flew approximately 70 kilometers from Lebanon to reach its target.
Military analysts believe Hezbollah may be employing tactics to confuse Israeli defense systems.
These tactics include launching multiple drones and rockets simultaneously.
This strategy aims to increase the chances of hitting a target.
In response to this incident, the Israeli military has vowed to enhance surveillance in the region.
An Israeli army spokesperson said, “We will take all necessary measures to protect our citizens and leaders.”
