The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a resounding victory in the local government elections held across Kaduna State.
The APC won all 23 local government chairmanship seats, along with all 255 councillorship positions.
This victory reinforces the ruling party’s dominance in Kaduna State.
The results were officially announced by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) on Sunday.
The chairperson of KAD-SIECOM, Hajara Mohammed, declared the APC victorious in all the contested positions.
Mohammed confirmed that eight political parties participated in the elections.
However, the APC emerged victorious in every local government area and ward.
She also assured the public that the election results were compiled in line with the law.
All local government and ward returning officers declared the outcomes according to proper procedure.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has expressed his satisfaction with the elections.
He described the process as free, fair, and peaceful.
Governor Sani made these comments after casting his vote at LEA Kawo polling unit 047 in Kaduna.
Speaking to the press, the governor said, “The turnout across the 23 local government areas was satisfactory, with only minor issues in a few polling units.”
He emphasized the importance of local government elections in strengthening democracy at the grassroots.
The governor highlighted that the APC had campaigned extensively across the state in preparation for the election.
Sani commended the peaceful conduct of the elections and urged voters to remain calm.
He reminded the public that in every election, there are winners and losers.
The governor added that the success of the local government elections would further deepen democracy in Kaduna.
“The All Progressives Congress is committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that the will of the people is respected,” the governor stated confidently.
In addition to the governor’s praise, various organizations and stakeholders have also commended the elections.
The Northern Awareness Network (NAN), in a statement signed by its chairman, Salihu Sulaiman, lauded the transparent and orderly conduct of the elections.
NAN praised the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission for managing the election process smoothly despite security concerns.
“We are pleased to note that the voters in Kaduna demonstrated a high level of civic responsibility,” NAN stated.
The group also commended the security agencies for ensuring a safe environment for voters.
Police and other security forces were deployed across the state to maintain peace during the elections.
NAN called on the newly elected officials to serve the people with integrity.
The group emphasized the importance of good governance in fostering the progress of the state.
“We expect those elected to deliver on their promises and prioritize the development of Kaduna State,” NAN said in its statement.
The Northern Stakeholders Consultative Forum (NSCF) also praised the peaceful conduct of the elections.
In a statement signed by its convener, Comrade Paul Danjuma, the NSCF said the election was free and fair.
The group monitored polling units in Kaduna metropolis and found no major issues during the voting process.
“The peaceful nature of this election shows that Kaduna is moving in the right direction,” Danjuma noted.
He congratulated KAD-SIECOM for organizing a credible election and urged other states to follow this example.
The APC’s victory in Kaduna is seen as a continuation of the party’s stronghold on the state’s political landscape.
The ruling party has maintained control in Kaduna since winning key positions in past elections.
