A Lagos State PDP general assembly meeting which held on Saturday has passed a vote of no confidence on former governor of Ondo State and leader of the party in Lagos, Chief Bode George.
A video recording of the event obtained on Sunday showed that the decision, which unfolded as a motion during the assembly, received overwhelming support from attendees.
The meeting, Meteor Nigeria learnt, took place at the party’s secretariat at Iyana Ipaja Lagos.
One of the attendes who spoke in the video said the suspension motion was prompted by deep-seated concerns regarding Chief Bode George’s role in the party’s electoral failures.
“During his leadership, he has contributed to over 80% of the party’s failure to win any elections,” the member said.
“I am going to put it to this house, if you agree that Bode George should be suspended indefinitely, say aye,” continued the speaker, leading to an emphatic response in favour of the suspension from nearly all present at the meeting.
However, analysts said the decision of the stakeholders was merely symbolic as they did not have the powers to suspend the party leader.
