There was pandemonium at the Tai Solarin University (TASUED), Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on Wednesday, as cultists invaded an exam hall in the afternoon, dragged out a final-year student, tortured and killed him.
Eyewitness accounts which made the rounds on social media say the 400-level student was dragged out while writing his final examination, beaten and tortured and dragged to a corner of the school.
The eyewitnesses also said that members of the school security team, who are always heavily armed, absconded during the attack but later showed up after the attackers had left.
A short video of the attack recorded by the eyewitnesses also circulated widely on social media on Wednesday.
In the video, a group of young men numbering between fifteen and twenty and believed to be secret cultists, were seen dragging and kicking the victim.,

The platform says, “Despite initial reports, we have confirmed directly from family and friends that Fabiyi was unconscious after the attack, and the attackers left him, mistakenly thinking he was dead.
“He was later transported to the hospital by bystanders where he regained consciousness. His family is reportedly planning to transfer him to a better medical facility. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
The platform also confirmed that the victim, identified by eyewitnesses and classmates as Ola Fabiyi, a final year student writing his last exam belonged to the Eiye Confraternity while his assailants were members of the Aiye Confraternity.
According to the platform, “Fabiyi is a final year student and was not supposed to be on campus today due to his birthday being today but was reportedly called out by an unidentified person.”
However, a few hours after giving this positive update the platform and the student union government of the school confirmed that Fabiyi had passed on.
“After the hopeful news of his revival and chances of survival, Naija Confra now confirms that Ola Fabiyi, the final year student from Tai Solarin University (TASUED) in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, has sadly passed away,” NaijaConfra reported. “Fabiyi was attacked by members of Aye on his birthday and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.”
A statement issued by the students union’s acting president, Bethel Olorunfunmi, and public relations officer, Faith Julius confirmed the death of the student and offered condolences to his family and friends.
The statement said, “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of a tragic incident which occurred today.
“A fellow student was attacked on the school premises and, despite the
best efforts of the medical staff at the general hospital sadly passed away. Effective immediately, a mandatory curfew is in place, requiring all students to remain indoors starting at 10:00 PM tonight.
“Please understand that this measure is being taken with your safety as our
utmost priority. We are working closely with university authorities and law
enforcement agencies, who are conducting a thorough investigation and
enhancing security across the campus.”
The union also advised students to avoid late-night movements and
gatherings.
Commenters on social media blamed the school for not providing effective security for students.

So why the cultism? If a cultist will be dragged and taken away in the school premises, why then did he join? But dragging from class till they leave the school? And 3 to 4 of his group members couldn’t try something? No na!!!
