Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Alhassan Doguwa, has issued a challenge to Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin (NNPP, Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency) to reveal the alleged “bombshell” against him.
This comes in response to Abdulmumin’s threat of exposing information that could lead to Doguwa’s expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he continues to attack former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The dispute escalated when Kwankwaso labeled Doguwa and other APC leaders as “Banzaye” (stupid people) in a widely circulated video. Doguwa retaliated, highlighting his long-standing political career and his independence from Kwankwaso’s influence.
In a press statement in Abuja, Doguwa dared Abdulmumin to disclose any secrets he claims to have. He asserted his loyalty to the APC and its leadership, emphasizing his consistent electoral victories and significant contributions to the party.
“I challenge Abdulmumin Jibrin to drop any bombshell he has against me. I dare him not to spare or keep secret whatever he knows about my political conviction and commitment to my party, the APC. I remain a loyal and sincere member of the ruling APC,” Doguwa declared.
Doguwa underscored his electoral achievements, noting that he won his constituency’s elections, including the presidential election where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated Kwankwaso.
He highlighted his consistent victories over four consecutive terms without Kwankwaso’s support.
“I have, by the grace of Allah, won my elections to the House of Representatives four consecutive times without Kwankwaso. And with Allah SWT, I don’t need him to win my future elections,” Doguwa stated.
Doguwa also pointed to his extensive political experience, having held various significant roles within the House of Representatives, including Chief Whip and Majority Leader.
He mentioned his educational achievements, including a Master’s in Public Relations from Bayero University Kano and a Global Certificate in Strategic Leadership Skills from Harvard Business School.
In addition to his political career, Doguwa holds multiple traditional titles across Nigeria, such as Sardaunan Rano, Dallatun Kangiwa in Kebbi State, Danburam of Bukuyyum in Zamfara State, Barden Saminaka in Kaduna State, and Gado Da Masu of Ukke in Nasarawa State.
