    Why I Don’t Feel Loved – Omah Lay

    Afrobeats sensation, Omah Lay, has shared some of the challenges he faces within the music industry. The singer, known for his hit track “Boy Alone,” expressed feeling a lack of love and support from the media and key figures in the industry.

    In a recent interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay revealed that this perceived isolation has led him to retreat into a fantasy world as a coping mechanism.

    “I have my fans, family, and team, but I don’t feel loved, especially by the media and the people that call themselves the gatekeepers,” Omah Lay stated.

    “This is something I’ve never talked about. I’m that artist that lives in a fantasy world. I just live in my head 90 percent of the time.”

    Beyond his struggles within the music industry, Omah Lay also highlighted the difficulties he encounters while traveling with a Nigerian passport.

    He shared that immigration officers often treat him poorly until they recognise him as a celebrity.

    “Travelling, especially being a Nigerian and having the Nigerian passport, I have just seen the cruelty of the world so much,” he said.

    “The immigration officers often maltreat me once they see the Nigerian passport until they realize that I’m Omah Lay; that’s when the treatment changes.”
