The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the promotion of 13,977 officers across the agency. This announcement came from Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller-General of NIS, during a ceremony held in Abuja on Friday.
The event was marked by the decoration of 15 newly promoted Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACGs) and 95 newly promoted Comptrollers of Immigration Service (CIS). Nandap emphasized that this mass promotion reflects the dedication and commitment of the officers to serving Nigeria.
“This mass promotion, unprecedented in scope and impact, sends a powerful message about our commitment to rewarding excellence, fostering growth, and building a service that is not only motivated but also equipped to meet the demands of a modern and complex world,” she said.
Details of the Promotion
The recent promotions included 6,697 officers who advanced from Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II (ASI2) to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG). Additionally, 7,280 personnel were promoted from Immigration Assistant II (IA2) to Inspector of Immigration (II).
Nandap highlighted that this extensive promotion is not just about recognition but is also a strategic move to enhance the capability and readiness of the NIS in meeting the challenges of modern immigration issues.
“This promotion is a testament to the officers’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving the country,” she added.
Fairness in the Promotion Process
Nandap credited the fairness and transparency of the promotion process to the leadership of Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior. She praised the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) for its efforts in ensuring that the promotion process was conducted fairly and transparently.
“This has become possible under the dynamic leadership of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,” she said. “The board has worked tirelessly to ensure that the promotion process is fair, transparent, and that results are released timely to reflect the aspirations of our officers.”
