A shocking incident has occurred at Akoko Anglican Grammar School in Arigidi, Ondo State, where a Senior Secondary School student was stabbed to death by a female colleague.
The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving both students and teachers in a state of disbelief.
The deceased, Habib Salau, was reportedly involved in a scuffle with a female student identified only as Sandra, who is now being accused of his death.
According to eyewitnesses, the fight broke out between the two students after school hours.
While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, sources say the argument quickly escalated, leading to a physical confrontation.
During the fight, Sandra allegedly stabbed Habib with a knife.
An eyewitness, who spoke to newsmen in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, described the incident as a tragic outcome of what seemed like a minor disagreement.
Habib was rushed to a nearby hospital, but it was too late. He succumbed to his injuries, and his body has been deposited at the mortuary of the Specialist Hospital in Ikare.
The incident has caused panic at Akoko Anglican Grammar School, with students and teachers deeply troubled by the sudden death.
According to reports, groups of students have been gathering around the school premises, discussing the tragedy in hushed tones.
Many of them are finding it difficult to come to terms with the fact that one of their classmates is dead, and another could face serious legal consequences.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the student.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Funmi Odunlami, spoke to the press, stating that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a more in-depth investigation.
Odunlami assured the public that the police would get to the bottom of what caused the tragic altercation between the two students.
“We are fully investigating the matter,” she said. “The case has been transferred to the CID for thorough investigation. We need to uncover what really led to this unfortunate incident.”
She also urged the public to remain calm as the investigation continues and assured that the truth would be uncovered.
“We know this is a difficult time for the families involved and the entire community. But we ask for patience as we carry out our investigation.”
