    Share

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent assault on a Bolt driver by Alex Ikwechegh, the representative for Aba North and South in the House of Representatives. The incident, which was captured in a now-viral video, shows Ikwechegh physically attacking the driver while he was delivering an item to the lawmaker’s residence.

In a statement released by Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, the party described Ikwechegh’s actions as “condemnable in all ramifications” and highlighted that such behaviour is inconsistent with the party’s constitution and core values. The statement reflects a growing concern among party members regarding the conduct of elected officials and the need for accountability.

The video of the incident quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking outrage and prompting calls for action from various stakeholders. The driver, who has now been publicly identified as Stephen Abuwatseya, was reportedly delivering an item to Ikwechegh when the altercation occurred.

In response to the incident, APGA has announced the establishment of a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. If Ikwechegh is found guilty of wrongdoing, the committee will recommend appropriate sanctions in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He urged all party members and elected officials to uphold decorum and civility in their interactions, both in public and private settings.
