The Senate has postponed the screening of seven ministerial nominees to allow them to finalise their documentation and pre-screening processes.
Originally set for Tuesday, the screening will now take place on Wednesday at noon, as announced by the Presidency. This information was provided in a statement on Tuesday by Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Senate Matters.
Last Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu relieved five ministers of their duties and nominated seven new candidates for Senate confirmation. Additionally, he re-assigned ten ministers to new portfolios.
Among the nominees are Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Nentawe Yilwatda for Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, which officially concludes the tenure of suspended Betta Edu.
Other nominees include Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha for the newly created Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata for Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad for Minister of State for Education.
The Senate, led by President Godswill Akpabio, is scheduled to screen the seven nominees on Wednesday.
