    Lecturer Arrested Over Alleged Role in Kidnapping of Colleague’s Wife

    In a shocking twist, the Benue State Police Command has arrested Dr. Tersagh Ichor, a lecturer at Joseph Saawuan Tarka University Makurdi (JOSTUM), for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Mrs. Susan Anyagh, the wife of the university’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chairman.

    The arrest was announced by the Benue Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, in a statement released in Makurdi on Friday.

    According to Anene, Mrs. Anyagh was abducted on December 7 along Otukpo Road, Makurdi.

    She was reportedly driving when she stopped to assist individuals who flagged her down, posing as people in distress.

    “They quickly jumped into her car, pointed a gun at her, and forced her to drive towards the Wurukum area,” the PPRO revealed.

    As the horrifying events unfolded, Mrs. Anyagh noticed Dr. Ichor standing by her car and called out for help.

    Shockingly, he allegedly turned his back and walked away.

    The police disclosed that the abductors received a call from Dr. Ichor during the incident, instructing them to kill the victim.

    In a terrifying moment, the kidnappers decided to abandon their plan when they approached a police checkpoint.

    “They reversed the car, moved to a hidden location, and brought her out,” Anene narrated.

    The attackers reportedly stole ₦1,350,000 from the victim before brutally hitting her neck with a car jack, leaving her unconscious by the roadside.

    The victim was later rescued by concerned individuals who found her along Yandev-Ugbema Road and rushed her to a healthcare center in Ameladu.

    She regained consciousness after treatment and recounted the harrowing ordeal to the police.

    Mrs. Anyagh explained that the attack began shortly after leaving an NNPC Mega Station in Kanshio, where she had collected money from a customer.

    Her experience painted a grim picture of betrayal and violence, leaving many in disbelief over the involvement of a trusted academic.

    The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, immediately launched an investigation and ordered the arrest of all suspects involved.

    Dr. Ichor, now in police custody, is being investigated for his alleged role in the crime.

    “Details of the investigation will be communicated in due course,” Anene assured.

    This development has sent shockwaves across the JOSTUM community, with many expressing disbelief over the allegations against Dr. Ichor.

    The Commissioner of Police has urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding as the investigation continues.

    “We will ensure a thorough and diligent process to establish the facts,” Yabanet stated.
