    Share

The annual Shiloh event hosted by the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel) has always been a gathering of faith, inspiration, and spiritual rejuvenation for millions of believers worldwide.

However, Shiloh 2024 took an unexpected turn when the recently retired, Bishop David Abioye, a revered figure in the ministry, was conspicuously absent.

Bishop Abioye, known for his powerful sermons and leadership, has been a cornerstone of Shiloh and the ministry for years. His absence has sparked a heated debate among worshippers, with many questioning the circumstances behind this surprising development.

Lilian Chinonso, a devoted member of the Winners Chapel, took to social media to express her disappointment.

“I lost every interest to be at Shiloh immediately I noticed Bishop Abioye wasn’t there,” she wrote on Facebook.

She recalled how she became deeply attached to the church after listening to Bishop Abioye’s sermons in 2009.

“He has a way of pouring out wisdom that fills your book without you realizing it,” she said, emphasizing his influence on her spiritual journey.

Like many others, Lilian followed Bishop Abioye when he was transferred to Goshen City, enduring long commutes to continue listening to his teachings.

“For us, Shiloh is not complete without him,” she added.

The absence of Bishop Abioye has led to speculation about internal changes within the church’s leadership.

Some members pointed to retirement policies as a possible reason for his non-appearance. Other members echoed similar sentiments.

Blessing Agbenu Sunday admitted she also did not attend Shiloh this year, citing Bishop Abioye’s absence as the main reason.

For many, his presence symbolizes spiritual continuity and inspiration.

Olayinka Sokoya, a lawyer and ordained member of the church, expressed shock at the situation.

“Not inviting such a senior leader could lead to speculation about conflicts or divisions within the leadership,” she warned.

While rumors swirled on social media, the church remained silent about the reasons behind Bishop Abioye’s absence.

A member, Aniefiok Udoabasi, suggested that an announcement during the event could have clarified the situation.

“Many members came to me asking questions about his absence,” he said.

Samson Olaoye Eniola, a follower of Bishop Abioye online, claimed the bishop was engaged in evangelism activities in Canada and the United States during the event.

“Bishop Abioye mentioned in a live TV interview that he has been lecturing at seminars, summits, and church revivals abroad,” Samson stated.

The controversy has divided the congregation, with some defending the church’s leadership and others expressing dismay.

Olalekan Soyombo called for unity and focus on the spiritual essence of Shiloh.

“Jesus Christ at the center of the church is what matters most,” he wrote, urging members to refrain from unnecessary criticism.

Despite the controversy, Bishop Abioye’s impact on the Winners Chapel community is undeniable.

For years, his teachings have inspired countless individuals, transcending denominational boundaries.

“I am a Presbyterian, but his messages made me watch Shiloh,” Solomon Enyinnaya Nweke shared.

While some members have called for clarity and transparency, others emphasize the need to trust the church’s spiritual direction.

One thing is certain: the discussions sparked by this year’s Shiloh event will not fade anytime soon.

For now, the congregation remains united in faith, hopeful that future gatherings will restore the spirit of togetherness that has defined Shiloh for decades.
