The city of Birnin Kebbi became the epicenter of political admiration and financial generosity as Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasiru Idris, celebrated the launch of his biography, Mr. Project. The event drew Nigeria’s political elite, including Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, who boldly declared, “There is no vacancy in the Kebbi Government House.”
Zulum, in his keynote address, extolled Governor Idris for his exemplary leadership, describing him as a symbol of humility, integrity, and resourcefulness. He noted that Kebbi had experienced remarkable growth under Idris’s administration, urging residents to maintain peace and unity.
“I have seen the projects executed by my brother, Nasiru Idris. Kebbi has become a model of development in Nigeria,” Zulum said. As a gesture of solidarity, he announced a donation of ₦50 million to support the book launch.
The event was not just about words but also a display of financial support, as notable dignitaries opened their wallets in honor of the governor. Kebbi Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida pledged ₦50 million to the book launch, reaffirming his loyalty to Idris’s administration.
Senator Muhammad Adamu Alieru, representing Kebbi Central, described Idris as “the man of the moment” and announced a donation of ₦15 million on behalf of the state’s three senators.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Kabir Sani Giant, emphasized that the book encapsulates the principles of good governance, transparency, and inclusivity that define Idris’s administration.
The biography, Mr. Project, chronicles Governor Idris’s initiatives within just 18 months of his tenure. Speaking on behalf of the Chief Launcher, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, the APC National Organizing Secretary, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, described Idris as an exemplary leader.
“We at the APC National Secretariat often wonder where the Kebbi Governor sources his resources to achieve so much in so little time. He is resourceful and transparent,” Argungu remarked. Senator Bagudu, who was unavoidably absent due to official duties in Saudi Arabia, donated ₦50 million to the launch, while Argungu added ₦10 million.
The Chairman of the event, retired Major-General Muhammadu Magoro, commended Governor Idris for redefining governance in Kebbi. According to Magoro, no other administration in Nigeria since 1999 has matched the pace and impact of Idris’s achievements.
Magoro used the occasion to address broader national concerns, advocating for justice and equity in the New Tax Bills. He encouraged Northern Governors to sustain their unified stance and engage Northern members of the National Assembly to strengthen their position.
The Guest Speaker, Professor Bello Bada of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, highlighted Idris’s exceptional achievements, comparing him favorably to other governors in Nigeria.
“As an academic, I avoid praise-singing, but the evidence of Governor Nasiru Idris’s performance is undeniable. Kebbi is shining under his stewardship,” Bada said.
The book reviewer, Professor Muhammadu Lawal Ahmadu, Vice-Chancellor of Rayhaan University, lauded the publication as an invaluable resource for students and researchers.
“Mr. Project is not just a biography; it is a repository of rapid development and governance excellence. It should be a guide for all leaders seeking progress,” Ahmadu remarked.
Governor Nasiru Idris, the star of the event, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. Surrounded by top government officials and politicians, including Kebbi State APC Chairman Abubakar Muhammadu Kana Zuru, Idris reiterated his commitment to continuing the transformative projects that have earned him accolades.
“Leadership is about service and impact. I am committed to ensuring Kebbi remains a beacon of progress,” Idris stated.
The biography, Mr. Project, stands as a testament to Governor Idris’s accomplishments and vision for Kebbi State. With substantial financial backing and glowing tributes from peers, the event marked another milestone in the governor’s journey of public service.
