In a shocking act of domestic violence, Kelvin Izekor has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 38-year-old wife, Success Izekor, in Benin City, Edo State. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Upper Mission Extension area, leaving the local community in disbelief and mourning.

According to reports from residents, the couple had recently gotten married, and no one could have predicted such a tragic outcome. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their horror at the event, saying, “I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being killed by your own husband. They were newlyweds, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer such a fate.”

The gruesome details of the crime came to light when a graphic video surfaced on social media showing police officers and local residents carrying Success Izekor’s lifeless body out of the apartment. The woman’s head appeared to have been severely hacked with a machete, and the distressing images left many in the community shaken.

The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, with the spokesperson, Moses Yamu, releasing a statement on Sunday, February 23, 2025. According to Yamu, the police received information at approximately 10:00 pm on February 22 that Kelvin Izekor had killed his wife and was about to be lynched by an angry mob. The police quickly responded to the scene and arrived to find Success Izekor’s body lying in a pool of her own blood.

Yamu’s statement detailed the police’s efforts to pacify the mob and rescue the suspect. “Operatives of the Aduwawa Division swiftly responded to the report and found the lifeless body of the woman lying in a pool of her own blood, with deep cuts on her head. It took serious efforts by the police to pacify the mob, rescue the suspect, and take him into custody for investigation.”

The victim’s body was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead. While no further details on the motive for the crime have been revealed.
