Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle’s journey to this prestigious position has been marked by years of exemplary service in the Nigerian Army. Known for his discipline, intelligence, and commitment to his duties, Olakunle has served in various critical roles within the military, particularly as an artillery officer. His training and experiences have seen him contribute to the strengthening of Nigeria’s national defence forces.

The National Youth Service Corps, established in 1973, was designed to promote national unity and foster the integration of young people from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds across Nigeria. Every Nigerian graduate under the age of 30 is required to serve the nation for a year, working in different sectors, ranging from education to health, agriculture, and infrastructure.

The NYSC programme has played a pivotal role in fostering unity in the country, especially in a nation as diverse as Nigeria. It has given young Nigerians the opportunity to engage with people from different parts of the country, exposing them to new cultures, languages, and ideas. In doing so, it has contributed to national integration and understanding, which is crucial for building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
