The death of a 62-year-old hotel attendant, Abel Johnson, has sent shockwaves through Kajola Village near Obafe Town in Ogun State. Johnson was discovered dead in his hotel room at De-Lay Classic Hotel on Friday, sparking fears of a possible foul play, though initial investigations suggest otherwise.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Johnson was last seen alive and in good health around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, before retreating to his room for the night. Concerns grew the following morning when Johnson failed to show up for work. His colleague, Shobayo Ahmed, along with a woman identified as Johnson Blessing, promptly reported the incident to the Owode Egba Police Division around 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

“We were informed that Abel Johnson did not report for his shift the next morning. His colleagues went to check on him, and upon finding his lifeless body, they immediately alerted the authorities,” Odutola said.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Owode Egba Police Division visited the scene to investigate. A thorough physical examination of Johnson’s body revealed no visible signs of violence or struggle. The police took photographs of the scene, and the deceased’s body was subsequently taken to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta, for an autopsy.

“Preliminary investigations suggest no foul play,” stated Odutola. “The cause of death is still under investigation, and the autopsy will provide more details.”
