Liverpool Target Ademola Lookman in Summer Transfer

    Share

Liverpool FC is reportedly preparing a bid for Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who has been a standout performer for Atalanta BC in Serie A. The 27-year-old forward, who has previously played in the Premier League with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, is attracting interest from several top English clubs following his impressive performances in Italy.

Lookman has been instrumental in Atalanta’s recent successes, including their UEFA Europa League victory, where he scored a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen. His form has continued into the current season, with 11 goals and five assists in 19 appearances, contributing significantly to Atalanta’s strong position in Serie A.

Atalanta’s new Director of Global Development, John Murtough, formerly of Manchester United, is reportedly tasked with maximizing revenue from player sales. While the club has previously declined offers for Lookman, they are now open to negotiations, with a reported asking price of €50 million.

Liverpool’s interest in Lookman is seen as a strategic move to bolster their attacking options, especially with the uncertainty surrounding their frontline under the incoming new manager. Lookman is expected to add flair and goal-scoring ability to Liverpool’s squad, should the transfer proceed.

The potential move is also significant for Nigerian football, as Lookman would join a select group of Nigerian players who have featured for Liverpool, such as Victor Moses. His transfer would further strengthen the ties between Nigerian talent and top European clubs.
